pH too high!

Hello All:
I have a 125 gal fish only tank and its in the middle of the cycle (about 3 weeks) and the pH lever is at 8.6 ! how can I have messed that up?! is it normal for the pH to run a bit high during the cycle or abnormal? if so how do I get the pH back down.

What test kit are you using? There is one PH kit that always gives me a reading of 8.6 even though my PH probe and the other kits that I use are in the 8.2 to 8.3 range. The dry tab kit always produces an 8.6 reading.
