What time a day did you take the measurment? At night ph drops a bit, check in the middle of the day, if not, you could use Kent marine buffer (my favorite).

Awhile ago my PH dropped low to and I bought Proper PH 8.2 by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and no lie in less then 30min my PH was at 8.2 and stayed ever since, you can also use it with inverts in the tank which is always helpful. Didnt have to do anything to treat the water. Safe.

YOu don't want your ph range moving around too much, its could be tough on your pets. So I would not recommend qucik fix, but a small gradual increase, 30 minutes seems tooooo fast to be safe.

yea it does, I didnt know how it would work, but nothing happened, didnt seem any stress in the tank or anything, So I was happy with it..It does not contain phosphate, does contain aloe vera which they say helps reduce stress or healing. I also read some things from other users, which were good but suggested not to use it in a planted aquarium because it stunts algae growth, which turns plants yellow and then they die. Which I did not have.

No to jinx myself, but I did not add any buffers for years now, and its pretty stable. Once your tank sets itself up, and you do regular water changes, it should be fine. Salt has lots of the same things that you are adding with buffers, so it should be ok, and 7.8 in not that low, besides maybe you are not getting an accurate reading. I have been at 8.3 for about 2 years now.

The more relevant reading you need here is your alkalinity.
pH is the result of alkalinity. If your alk is in the right place, then pH will automatically fall in line.
