Philips aquarium light .. any good?

I found some lights at Home Depot that are used for plants and "freshwater" aquariums ... they have a light output of 1600 lumens, 40 watts and a color temp of 2700K ... would these be ok for a fish only tank ?? thanks

yeah. i don't see what would be wrong with them

yes they will work but but beware the algae blooms!! that K rating is good for algae and it will love it.

im planning on adding a metal halide lamp when I get a little more experience and decide to get some corals ... if algae becoms a problem I might have to get them earlier
