Who uses em and how. Often should i change them? I just started using them a little over 2weeks ago i have 1pad in my canister.

You have the right idea, you need to test the water to find out the answer or observe the animals to see how they are reacting. To test you will need a test kit that can read down in a range of 0.10 ppm 0.05 ppm at 0.01 ppm resolution.
