Some people here use phytoplankton and some say it's just a water poluttant and is useless.
Can you guys give some opinions and advice whether or not I should dose the tank w/ it or not?
I have a 60 gallon reef tank w/ 260W lighting and a UV sterilizer hooked as well.
Imo, if you have a heavy load of any of the following baby clams, softys, LPS then I reccoend dosing Phytoplankton. If your tank is sps dominated then Imo its just a waste of money and good prestine water quality. Also if you chose to dose it I recomend Dt's phyto.
Most of my corals are softies and LPS. also have a few feather dusters.
Never heard of DF phyto. If I go to mY LFS and mention it, will they know what I"m talking about?
LFS probably wont carry it. I use DT's and it is great stuff but a little pricey but worth it. I dose every 3 days. Look for it online or email me and I will send you in the right direction.
How badly does this stuff pollute the water? I mean dosing it every 3 days or so, will it cause any levels to go up?
I'll ask my LFS, but if he doesn't carry it, I"ll PM u.
Thanks
I have had absolutely no problems with it. When i dose i turn off the return pumps for an hour so it stays in the main tank and all the critters that eat it can get their share. Even if your LFS had it i am sure it would be more expensive than what i get it for which is not cheap.
