Ok, I have feather dusters growing on my live rocks. This leads me to believe that there exists in my tank some of their diet which I believe is plankton. Were this not true my feather dusters would need to be eating some sort of substitute, of which I am not aware exists.
I am assuming then that plankton is growing in my tank somewhere.
First of all, is that possible? If it is possible, where and what in my tank is producing the plankton.
Maybe I don't understand what plankton is exactly....?
The bottles of phytoplankton at the store are somewhat expensive. So if I have organisms in my tank that are getting plankton from somewhere do I ever need to worry about adding additional store bought phytoplankton?
And if I don't need to worry about buying any phytoplankton can i safely add additonal plankton eating organisms to my tank without providing them with store bought plankton.... I think I've stated my concern and question.. Could someone please educate me.
Thanks,

The picture below is my dream tank....would an established tank such as this require the addition of phytoplankton on a daily basis?
