Both are phytoplankton.
More important than different brands of phytoplankton is the ones that are live and dead. More nutrients in live phyto.. like DT's.

So DT's would be better since its live right? I was going to buy some tonight but i still had stome phytoplex left so i decided to wait....
I think i might still pick some up... Does the phytoplex go bad? i know the DTs stuff does

I didnt see any exploration date on the bottle of phytoplex.. and dt's probably doesnt actually go 'bad'.. it just becomes nutritionally worthless after that date.

DT's has a date on it as well. Mine goes bad in Dec of this year. However if I use it like they say to It will be gone by the end of the month. 2btsp per 100 gal. or 1 tsp per 15 gal. then double it after a week or so. :scared: This stuff is expensive...

Do you guys know what you are using the phyto for? What in your tank actually eats it? Much of it is just skimmed out, and it's too small for most corals to consume.

I have a pretty big clam, and some small polyp corals that seem to perk up when dosed. I just started it back up. I hadn't run it in the system for 6-8 months. Tank seemed ok. I just wanted to see what it would do any noticable difference dosing DT's. Trust me if I don't see the corals opening up better and the clam looking any better not that it isn't. But an improvement of some sort. I'll stop. In my tank It is like a $50 bill each month just for DT's and my tank isn't big at all.

By small polyp corals, do you mean SPS corals? They can't eat phyto, but they can eat zooplankton. The phyto would be a plus for the clam, but I'd recommend turning the skimmer off for 30-45 minutes after dosing because it will remove a lot of it from the tank.
