Pic Quality

Is there any tricks to get good pic with MH? The half rate camera I'm using doesn't help... but If the MH are on and I use the flash the pics come out to light and if I do not use a flash they are blurry. If I shut the MH off and just leave the actinic on the pics don't look natural... any suggestions?

The camera has a few settings but nothing special. I have tried every angle I could get... Not sure how to get the flash to shine on the canopy? The flash is built into the camera so it's not adjustable.

I'll have to get the manual out... When all else fails read the instructions right .
I will try the tripod also. Thanks,
