I was looking at getting some picasso clownfish and I wanted to know if they hosted in anemones readily and where they are caught? I think for the most part they are bred then sold. Anyone who has some post some pics please
Piccaso Clowns are from the Family Amphiprion percula so Basically they are a Percula Clown fish that is a hybrid because of its unusual colorings or Makings. So if you are looking for an Anemone that they will host you have to look at the ones that Perculas will host.. It is not always a sure shot that clowns will host an Anemone, but you have a better chance of them hosting if you get the Anemone that a certain genus of clown with host. Hope this Helps. Most that you can get in the SWF trade are tank bred from ORA that has been my experience while looking at them. They are Pricey also. The cheapest one that I have see for a single is like $100.00..
I was looking and I found some somewhere for $44, It wasn't a snowflake and it might just be a good idea to get a pair and see if they will mate. put $100 into a pair and sell the baby fish (don't know the correct termonology) I can easily get my money back and enjoy a couple more picasso's. I know that percula's will host in an BTA and that is what I want. Thanks
They both have the same markings except one is ocellaris and one is percula.Honestly breeding fish for money is not my thing i would do it for the joy of it, plus you have to raise rotifiers for the fry.To me it's not worth the money you're gonna make off of the babies.
