Most people will tell you not to get an anenome because of their mortality rate. As far as corals go you have to go with the corals that are suited to the type of equipment you have ie lighting, power heads for current and so on. If you want low light corals star polyps require low to moderate lighting and most mushrooms can be kept with low lighting. There are stick corals which are purple and reqwuire low lighting and do not like high lighting and high currents that require a well established tank but are low light corals. These are just a few. HTH and I hope I answered your ?

thank you for the advice and for jakepiolot my
tank currently is a ten gallon nano and has been runnign for 13 wks and 2 days. In the tank i have 18 lbs live rock and 4 1/2 lbs live sand. I have 2 half inch percula clowns and 1 coral banded shrimp and 6 hermit crabs and lastly 2 emeral crabs. I was also thinking about getting a small chocolate chip star but wasn't sure if he would "eat" my corals and such.. My lighting is pretty much "elcheapo" as seen in my last post: light help. I was also looking into getting blue lights and such but wanted to know what i can get with just my lights and new ones too! My peremeters have been fine but today i will check them and make sure. (i will post that later today) Anything else?

With your lighting set-up I would definitely stay away from an anemone. Even reef tanks with high intensity lighting and near perfect water cond. have had trouble keeping them alive. You should try starting out with low light hardy corals such as mushrooms, leathers and some polyps. After a couple of months when you upgrade your lights and tank becomes more established you can venture into other corals.

Dont buy a chocolate star if you want to have corals... before i had to breakdown my 55 I had lots of mushrooms on my live rocks and my ex-wife wanted a star fish soooo bad so i bought her one... he destroyed my mushrooms within 2 days of bein in the tank... anyone correct me if Im wrong but I dont think they are reef safe

thank you for the advice and i'll go with that!
also i'll have to decide about the choco
chip star.... Does any one have any input
on other nice stars that are reef SAFE?
Thank you ~~
