No where near as difficult as I had thought. I wish I had done this a long time ago. I can only imagine the money I can now save! I have also cut up a 2" mushroom which is in a dish with sand and rubble covered with some mesh net. I can not get a good picture as it is hiding in the back of the nano. But you get the idea I am sure. Let me know what you all think. I believe they are brown zoos/zoas? Comments are appreciated.

WHy dont you explain how you did it. Did you cut the zoas, or simply break the rock to which they were anchored?

I did it according to the fraggin freak. Peel the mat and cut between the polyps. Be sure to wear gloves and glasses as they contain a neurotoxin.

So the "mat" is the semi-translucent stuff that keeps the colony together, is that right? Forgive me, I dont know the right terms. I have a colony of 100+, and I want to put about 20 in my other tank.

yes, just scrape it off carefully and cut in between the polyps
