My wife and I go to Georgia every April to visit my family for a week.
My step-grandmother is one of those women that does nothing but cook all day. She feeds all the people that work for her son on the farm.
I put my wife in the kitchen with her for a day and she learned a lot.
I will post a recipe later (if I can get to it before the game) for my grandmothers' famous made from scratch 4 layer carmel cake. The carmel is not chewey, but more the consistency of icing.

Recipe given to me by Ceil, from work.
This cake will rock your world.
(plus it takes less than 15 minutes to prepare)
Ceil's Blueberry Brumble:
Ingredients For Cake:
3/4 cup flour
2 cups flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 stick butter, softened
1 egg
1tsp vanilla
2tsp baking powder
1 pt. blueberries
Ingredients for Crumb Topping:
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 stick butter, softened
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions for Crumb Topping:
mix together and set aside
Directions For Cake:
Preheat oven to 375f
Rinse blueberries and pat dry
Coat LIGHTLY with flour (this will prevent them from sinking during baking)
Lightly grease an 8inch tin baking pan
Coat LIGHTLY with four and set aside
Combine sugar, butter, egg and vanilla until incorporated
Stir in milk
Stir in flour - mixture wil be very thick and gooey, don't be alarmed )
Add blueberries to batter, stirring gently so as not to break the berries
Sprinkle crumb topping on top of mixture
Bake 45-50 minutes
Eat and enjoy!!

My sister in law was born and raised in Marathon in the Keys. She makes the best authentic Key Lime Pie ever!!!! I can see if I can found out her recipe. Although I don't know how widely available Key Limes are.....

Can I quote the Revenge of the Nerds pie episode? HEHEHEHE....ok I will but I will go with the clean one ... "That's my pie". Anyway, I am 100% a pie eater! I like cake only for the icing except for Red Velvet cake if it;s done right (kudos for the mother in law since that is something I love about her). I like dirt cake which is really a pie IMO and I will have to look for the recipe because it is simple to make and tastes awesome. All you have to like is cream cheese and oreos!
