Last night i looked at my clowns and my orange one had a small whitesh pimple looking bump on him. He/she doesn't look like he/she's being affected, (still swimming, eating )
What could it be and is it bad
I would not take any action until we definitely know what it is. If the fish is still healthy, hypo-ing if it does not have ich will stress it out more than it is neccessary.
No, absolutely. I understand what you are saying and I think hypo is the best way to treat ich, but I don't want the poster to get the wrong idea and start a hypo on his fish right away until we figure out what is wrong with the fish.
I am sorry if I came off as criticizing. I did not intend that and my intention was just for clarification.
You are not stupid at all!! I bet you every person on this message board learns something new each day. I know I do. None of us are all-knowing in this hobby. That is why we are all here: to help each other learn about the hobbty that we all love.
Hyposalinity is basically the treatment of parasites such as ich by slowly lowering the Specific Gravity of the water in a quarantine tank to 1.009 over 48 hours. Beth goes into great detail in the FAQ thread at the top of this message board.
and back to your problem-if it is a problem at all. Do you have access to any good books on marine aquaria? at the library or your LFS? There is usually a section on fish diseases/parasitic infestations with good pictures. Try to pinpoint EXACTLY what is on your fish before tanking any treatment steps. Is the 'pimple' the same color as your fish or fleshy colored? How large is it? Where is it located? When did it first show up? Lots of questions to be answered. Somethings just go away-like a pimple on a face-
Yep, I agree. For example, the Conscientious Marine Aquarist has a lot of great examples of what certain illnesses look like. If you go to a Borders or Barnes and Noble, they have a lot of great books there that you can look at.
