pink spots

i have noticed that there are various sizes of rose colored pink spots growing on the filter intake, power heads and now on the glass. I have seen them in aquariums in the lfs so I am not concerened as to them being a detriment, but they are hard to get off and dont want my glass to become polka dotted. Does anyone know what these are and if I should be concerned.

Coraline algae probably...most hobbiests really want this and it gives a nice colorful background that is actually somewhat of an acomplishment.....of course the downfall is how hard it is to get off the front glass........believe me.....I complain and laugh to my fiance all the time....."all I wanted was coraline, but be careful what you wish for". Many folks ask how to get this going, and although hard to get off the front glass......it really does give a nice colorful look to the back, sides, and rocks....my magnet won't cut it with coraline, and I have to actually get in there and scrub it off.......I think it's worth it though, and the many trying to get what you have may be jealous.

Oh, here is a pic of my powerhead covered in purple coraline algae....it does start in little circles that eventually join together, but since I reformatted I have no pics on the HD......I had to even find this pic on the site to download and upload again.
