Pink things?

yes, some of them look like sprouts a little. they aren't very long. maybe a centimeter.
gracilaria? what is it and is it ok to have in my tank?

Probably the ultimate tang food. Should not be a problem unless your nutrient level gets out of hand which will let the plant get out of have too. Herbivores should keep it under control. A good plant for biodiversity in your tank, enjoy it as long as it is under control.

what herbivore would you suggest i get to eat it? i only have clowns, a peppermint shrimp and a fire shrimp. no snails, no crabs.

I wouldnt try to find something to eat something that may not be a type of algae. and if it is it could be very slow growing. Just keep an eye on it for growth I had a ton of these on a few rocks that got bigger than a purtrusion off the rock.

I did the same thing and I know its in one of my books but ive been so busy I didnt feel like looking it up.
