Pink Tip DOES host!

When I bought my pink-tip Haitian anemone I had no expectation that my clown would find a friend in it because I read that that type of anemone does not host, but, since I wanted a cheap, hardy starter anemone I bought one anyway.
I guess either the anemone or the gold-stripe maroon clown didn't read the book because the clown has taken up residence and won't leave. :)

Nice!! Lucky you!!
I wish my clownfish would host in my anemone, but maybe the clown goby shoos them away when I'm not looking. My clown goby has claimed my condi and hosts there instead. I would recommend making sure that your anemones are well fed.

Well? That brings me to my next question...... how do I feed the anemone if the clown is always in there? Tonight I was feeding some fish with a turkey baster and wanted to give some to the anemone like I usually do but the clown was in there! He never leaves, but the anemone is going to resent it soon if he has to keep skipping meals because of the clown.

IMO It is best to keep more predatory anemones well fed... Condy's being one of them. Although not common to see a clown take residence in one its not unheard of. If you want to ensure that your anemone is getting the food you give it, my suggestion would be to place something like a strawberry basket over it when you feed it. Shoo the clown out give the food to the anemone and then put the basket over it so the clown cannot go back and steal the food. HTH

Indeed it does... Maroons are prob one of the most aggressive anemone fish to have so yea hes gonna battle for the food. Good Luck.
