Pink xenia?

I don't know much about Corals and I find that they are harder to research than fish are. So I thought I would turn to my friends at SWF.

I saw a small piece of what the LFS called "pink xenia." They were selling it for $20. I am interested in buying it but wanted to do some research. What can you tell me about them. I have MH, is that ok, or do they prefer less light? Do I put them high on the rock close to the light or in the sand? Do they need to be spot fed? How hardy are they?
Thanks a bunch!

It is probably silver pulsating xenia (looks pink). It grows like weeks and for $20 bucks you better be getting atleast 5-7 stalks if not more. People practically give it away on these forums in live selling and trading, but it does not transport well. I have PC lighting and it does fine. they multiply pretty quickly, do not require any spot feeding, and like medium flow. From my experience they do not tolerate any ammonia in a tank, so be sure that your parameters are 100%. With a MH it should double in a healthy tank in a month or so. If they are charging $20 for a stalk, look somewhere else.
