i have seen many pictures of pipe organs and cannot figure out how they grow. do they mat like zoas? spore spread like mushrooms? what??
in my LFS they have a coral that has 5-6 white, fern like leaves/pedals and a bright green dot in the center. is that a pipe organ? i have been to many different sites and cannot find this species that they have and i am trying to do some more research before i invest. thoughts?

I just got one. =) They grow out of tubes, somewhat like feather dusters. They'll spread and new tubes will pop up, and to frag them you just break off the tubes and glue them to a peice of rock. They're soo pretty, I love mine.
What you described sounds a bit like Goniopora to me, or maybe Xenia because the "leaves" are fern-like, but someone else should chime in too. I'm still somewhat new to the scene. What kind of lighting do you have? I have my pipe organ under 28 watt PCs and it's doing fine, and Xenia is very low matience when it comes to lighting so I've heard, but Goniopra need more than my PCs so I havn't looked into getting one.
