Pistol shrimp going to town

Ok, a week ago I got my first pistol shrimp and he immediately dug himself a couple tunnels under some of my LR. For the rest of the week he would pop in and out of those two tunnels every now and then, but was pretty inactive. Two days ago I got a wheeler watchman’s goby and they paired up immediately. :joy: Now the little bugger has been digging non-stop!
Will he dig like this forever, or is he just excited to have a new best bud. I only ask because my tank has been constantly cloudy with all the sand he is kicking up. Anyone have experience with these guys? They are very fun to watch!

Not sure about the sand but I do have a little warning for you. If your rock isn't setting on the bottom of your tank (directly on the glass) you might want to make is so. If not, you run the risk of your rock becoming unstable and falling over breaking your tank. Just a heads-up.

Hey thanks airforceb2. I saw that right away he went to digging right under the rocks, so I have pushed them down pretty much to the bottom for that reason.

I have a few pistol shrimp and goby mutualists. The shrimp are alway making a better burrow though I don't have any problem with cloudy water. You can put some small rocks near the burrow and the shrimp will incorporate them in the building of the burrow making it more sturdy and prehaps stir up the sand less.

You must have some really really fine sand :p My shrimp always does a little adjusting to his kingdom.. but its usually just a little here and a little there nowadays.. im hoping that he dies soon cause im sick of him flinging sand all over my corals.
