okay, just got some live rock a few days ago for a 30g tank i started up a month back. sense i added the rock i would keep hearing a clicking sound. well to make a long story short as i was moving some rocks around a small, what looks like a pistol shrimp dropped off to rock onto my hand. i quickly grabbed my net and dropped it in the net then hung the net in the water to see what it really was. thought it was a baby mantis shrimp as there was a red mantis shrimp moving about in the tank were i got my live rock. well as he was in the net his big claw came off. i put him back in the tank and he quickly went for cover back into his rock. just wondering though, will his claw grow back as he molts?

Yes, the claw will grow back. It may take more than one molt. Did you happen to see what type it was?
Do you plan on keeping him in the tank or do you want to get it out?

well really couldn't tell what type. he was only half an inch long and red/white in color. as for keeping him, i beleave i will for now to see how he turns out. i got a diamond goby in my large tank he might pair up with later as he gets bigger.

Sounds like it might be a Randalli pistol, which are one of the more friendly ones and tend to not makes as much of a mess in the sand. The Diamond Goby probably won't pair with it. I have one with a Yasha. The Randalli's tend to like the smaller/slimmer shrimp gobies to pair with.
