I currently have a 55 gallon tank that i am very happy with and have offically found my new addiction. I have a 75 gallon tank laying around that i want to use for a reef tank. My questioin are thus: i want to make it an over flow tank, are the HOB OF worth it? If so how many should i get and where should i postion them? Also powerheads, how many and where should i put them?? How many GPH would my pump need to be?
The 55 gallon that i have set up i baught off of someone and has pebbles as the substrate. It will be a super pain to change all that over so that is why i am just going to prep the new tank and move everything over and then sell my 55, (my 125 FO agressive is coming within the year). THe 55 i have already has a built in overflow so that is why i have no idea on this subject.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

the onlything i can really help you with here is i would switch the substrate from pebbles to live sand its a lot better!

If it were me, I would drill the bottom of the 75 and put an OF box in it. If the tank is just lying aroun and no warranty to worry about. Many people drill their tanks and don't hear alot of nightmares about shattered tanks. As to pumps and ph, turn over "should" be about 10X per hour depending on who you ask. PH help out in moving water as well and really help to eliminate dead zones in the tank. My .02 worth. good luck

when you set up the 75 you put live sand instead of the old pebbles..

yeah i know that is the whole idea behind switching to the new tank is the fact that i can do nothing about the pebbles.
