Plans for DIY Canopy/hood?

Does anyone have any detailed plans for making a canopy? I am upgrading my tank (55 g) and lights and will need a canopy/hood to mount them in. I haven't decided if I'm going to go PC or VHO yet, but it looks like both types have ready-to-mount systems. I know very little about what all will be needed to attempt this. I am planning on a dsb/FOWLR and want lighting that I won't have to change again if I decide to add some corals later.
Thanks

Sorry, I am no DIY-er, thus I had my canopy made [by someone who is a member of this BB & does this for a living]. I thought it was very reaonably priced, and it certainly was professional-looking, especially since it was made for a bowed aquarium. It matched my AGA stand perfectly.
However, if you have a standard rectangle aquarium and you want to make your own, I'm sure you can get some help from our diy-ers here, particularly, Mr. Salty.
Have fun building! :D

Mine was a 72gal bow and I had a few added features done to it, plus it was built tall--14"--in case I wanted to add MH's at some point. The cost was $215. which included the shipping charge.
AGA does not sell canopies for their tanks and Oceanic only sells formica canopies. I have a wood pine AGA stand that has paneling on the front that I wanted to match up for the canopy. I also didn't want a formica canopy with a wood stand. Anyway, I was very pleased with what I got, as well as the price.
There are diy canopy sites online if you do a search. However, if you have a bow aquarium, I don't think I saw any diy sites during my search last summer for canopies that advised on how to do the bow.

Elizabeth,
Would you email me those web sites if you still have them? Being so new to this, I'm not quite sure where to start searching. Luckily, my husband is pretty good at building things for me, with all of teh power tools I get for him! :D
thanks,
Leslie
