From experiance with freshwater planted aquariums what is a good turnover rate?? I know in saltwater tanks its much higher but in a densly populated planted tank what would be a good amount of flow?? 10x 20x.. . .?? any input on previous experiance and all opinions appreciated.

8 - 10X seems to be a good flow rate for Caulerpa racemosa. I would guess that other algae would be similar.
I would think vascular plants (Mangrove, Turtle Grass) would do fine with much less but Calcium carbonate based plants (Halimeda, Shaving Brush) would do better with more.

In a freshwater planted tank, CO2 levels and adding it to the system made a more noticeable difference than turnover.
Not sure what mine was when I was still running freshwater plant tanks, I think it was closer to 6-7 than 10.
