Plants & lighting

Decided I wanted to spice things up a bit in the tank and wanted to order a few corals along with the shaving brush plants. Before I jump in with both feet and blindfolded eyes, I was wondering if someone could help me with a few questions:
1. What kind of lighting is appropriate for shaving brush plants to thrive? Also, where should I put them? Just in the sand or do I need to anchor them somehow?
2. Currently I have two 10,000k actiinic bulbs & the cheeseball light hood that came with my 75 gallon set up. Would it help plant growth if I purchased another 2x 10,000k setup or would that merely give me better coverage in the nooks and crannies? I guess my question is, do I need to changed the lightwave frequency to get better coral growth?
3. My hospital tank has been sitting fallow for 8 months. Any objections if I use it to grow calupera? What kind of lighting would that require?
Thanks

Good questions. I've never had shaving brush plants thrive, I always lost them pretty quickly, so I can't answer that!
Adding light is always a good thing if you're underlit, but rather then throw money into another fixture, perhaps its more prudent to buy one good fixture now that will handle your future list for the tank, like a nice full size metal halide power compact combo hood. You can then sell the 'cheesball' hood you have on ---- and make some of the money back towards the cost of the new lights.
To grow caulerpa, you can leave the lights on 24/7 in a shallow tank with a little substrate, and it will grow like...like..a seaweed.
A good cheap way to light that tank would be one of the clip on power compact setups from jalli.
