just got a plate coral a week ago. Now does it live off the light or do I have to dose the tank with phyto. I read in other posts that they feed it clam, fish and phyto. But I tried all of those things and he didnt take it to his mouth. I also notice that he looks different everyday. One day his tenticals are really long. the next day his tenticals are really fat and he is really puffy.
so will it be ok with just the light? I have a 175w MH in a 30g tank.

It needs all the above, but i think ( i hant had much luck with my short tent. plate) Light and spot feed phyto is what it needs the most. Good luck

yeah thats what I thought. because the wild they cant eat fish or clams. maybe once in a blue moon pieces of torn fish will fall on it but mine hasnt eaten any meaty foods yet.
