when it first came in I was totally ticked off as it was very very brown.... for the price of ORA frags direct from them they should be spanking brightly colored. same thing with my deepwater acropera for from ORA. but the blue colored up nicely and the deepwater has colored up too. in the end it was worth it but when they arrived I was so mad at the gyp.

Well you've definitely treated it well. It looks gorgeous now. I'm curious, though... Was your deepwater acro also brown or was it bleached? I have a very light pink acro with neon green polyps that seems to be bleaching. I've got it on my frag rack at the top of the tank, but I have the feeling if I move it down in my tank, it will color up anywhere from a darker pink to a purple. I'm guessing maybe the seller just didn't know it was a deepwater acro...
How high is your deepwater acro placed in your tank and under what lighting? I'm curious to find some reference...

Nice pics. My "Hawkins" was a little like that too, Dustin's deepwater was how it should be. I have a Lokani that I'm trying to find a nice spot for, seems to do best in bottom part of my tank. That birdsnest is an awesome piece, I have two frags of a pink/purple polyp one, they both are micro compared to yours. Keep up the great job rfkprz.

the deepwater acro was an even shade of tan, it wasnt bleached. believe it or not its on my frag rack at the very top of my tank (440w vho) but not directly under my fixture so it gets indirect light, but pure spectrum (very little water diffusion/filtration of light) 220w actinic and 220w 10k. the lightbulb closest to it is actinic so any direct light it may be getting is almost pure actinic (simulating deep water)
its now tan with a greenish hue and purple tips/base extension.

My dustins is in direct light, under a 150w 14k phoenix, and it glows green and grows very well. If only I could stop snapping the coral with my clumsy hands
I have 3 unintentional frags lol.
My hawkins is a crazy blueish green with purple growth tips and is a very fast grower. It also at the top in very direct light.

I have a friend that wants a frag of the echinata but I am reluctant to frag it I want it to get huge as I have very few "show" size corals due to my incessant need to frag EVERYTHING.

I tell you what its darn hard to get a good picture of my harlequin bass as soon as he sees the camera he hides but he'll sit right in front for me to look at from 4 inches away.
