Guys I need real world opinions please on what filtration route to go considering I have a 90 fowlr.....
This is the current situation.... I have a 90 currently running with about 1-1.5" sand bed, 100-120 lb live rock, not sure on exact amount..
My current filtration...I know this is a POS but doable for now with my bioload... is a wet/dry 60 model...underated I know.. along with some aquaclear skimmer I bummed off my brother in law in the meantime... My parameters have been in check.... do bi weekly water changes and filter flosss chang etc etc.... not even any nitrates due to feeding portions not being overboard...learned that lesson a long time ago about how overfeeding can eventually lead to a crashing tank.
Since I only have 1 fish and a sfe I am able to get away with this... but no others will inhabit this tank until I upgrade the filtration by 5 fold!
Anyhow I came across a aquaclear aquatics model 175 wet/dry , plan to use an external pump//maybe a coralife turbo sea or a blue line. in tank power head (2) seio 620's.
Skimmer: Octopus NW150, asm, or euro reef es5-3
Now I need an honest answer if this would be good enough filtration for my tank..
fish list for this tank I have in mind.
gold striped maroon
snow flake eel
harlequin tusk
purple tang
flame angel
Thanks guys and let me hear what ya think.

the octos IMO are crap and compare nothing to the euro reef. the euro skimmer with that wet dry should work out well. IMO you should think about a sump instead of the wet dry but thats up to you.

well i see more and more about a refugium for reef tanks to handle nitrate issues which in an aggressive theres alot more margin for error. Although it's nice it's not needed.... I just need to hear what people who have had their tanks kept for years have been running...I am not a bandwagoner to go with a refuge if it isn't needed but rather a bonus

sump/fuge combo... get a better skimmer ASM3 or if you have a big load go with a ASM4

if your wet/dry is big enough you can do a small fuge.i got some chunks of lr and a pc light kit and i have some chatoa (sp) growing and ive never had trates and my tangs love when i harvest the extra algae.
