hi i'm trying to set up another tank and i have a 30 gallon long....but a 29 gallon stand....the stand is 31inches long but the tank is 36...will i be ok putting it on there with a little glass sticking out over each edge?

No, if you do that you'll have the danger of your tank overturning.
It will be much safer if you get a stand that will accomodate the tank, and not try and make something fit.

You think it will overturn with only 2 inches sticking out each side...i'm talking longways...it fits on width wise

There is a danger of the tank cracking along the bottom due to insufficient and unequal support along the bottom. I would never try it, personally.

You could put a piece of plywood the length and width of the tank and put it between the tank and stand. And then I think it would work just fine.
