Currently I have a standard 75 gallon setup with around 100lbs live rock, and i run a penguin dual biowheel, fluval cannister with a surface skimmer, and a remora c with maxi jet 1200 skimmer, 3 koralias with a red sea wave maker pro and the above stated lighting fixture with 6 brand new bulbs ( 2 blue+ 1 fiji purple {which I particulary hate} 1 geisman pure actinic, 1 aquasun midday sun, and one aquablue special) My tank has been running for about 16 months and is absoultely gorgeous. However, like everybody I would like to get a bigger tank and have found a few on craigslist I like. I have a mixed variety of corals including birdsnest, sun coral, a huge 20" leather , some acans which have added several heads, trumpet corals, chili coral, open brains, and a few different leathers, bubble corals, superman mushrooms, frogspawn, yellow tubinaria and etc, etc... No clams or anemones, but a few high light corals, which are all towards the top of my tank. I am getting excellent growth and in no way want to deprive anything from the care it gets now. However, I am looking at possibly a 90, 120 or 150 gal new setup but want to keep my current lighting so I will make sure the new tank is also a 48" tank so my fixture will fit. My question is this: the tank I really want has dual overflows and is 48 long x 24 wide x 29 high, is my lighting sufficient to keep everything thriving? I really do not want to invest in a chiller and all of the halides because I have alot in my fixture including 130$ in new bulbs not to mention the increase in electric bills. I am experienced enough at reef keeping to grow out my corals, but find that no matter what lfs or site I check everybody has a different opinion when it comes to lighting. I have to much $$$ in corals to kill them off because of my ignorance and I realize I am nowhere as skilled as many people. Sorry for the extremely long thread i just wanted the experts to know exactly what I had and was wanting. The new tank will be built with several new ideas I have gathered off various sites and i am pretty set on a tank with overflows. What suggestions do you have for my dilema? Again thanks for your time and help!!

Hi,
Welcome to the site.
The answer to your question is a yes. I also stayed with the 48" lighting when I went from a 55g...then to a 75g...and now a 90g, the largest 48" I found was a 110g. Keeping the most light needy corals towards the top and you will be fine.
I don't mean to seem anal but splitting your paragraph up makes for an easier read. I changed yours so you can see what I mean. I sure hope you stay around and we don't mind long posts, but splitting the paragragh up really helps.

If your content on the tank size you could keep your light demanding corals towards the top of the tank as you've been doing....There's people that have done SPS with T5's, so in the new tank you would just adjust your coral placement.
