got it on a piece of LR from the lfs, unsure of what it is.

Looks like it could be Mojano .... not sure though.

If it is, it's no good ..... just another pest anemone. I believe they don't spread as fast as aiptasias, but you should get rid of it. Wait for more replies though.

I think bigarn is right. Those have a nasty sting and will hurt your corals.

do clownfish like these type of anemone's at all? i don't have that piece LR in my reef tank yet. I wanted to find out what it was first. guess it won't be going in the display tank.

I've never heard of a clown accepting one as a host .... but that's just my experience.

The Anemone in the picture is Aiptasia sp.

I believe bang is correct...and they tend to be even bigger pests than majano...quick to populate and sometimes difficult to get rid of. If thats the only one you have I'd sure inject it with a kalk paste or some other solution that can kill it quickly.

I heard Joe's juice is good to kill off pest anenomes.

i read somewhere to squirt it with boiling water and it'll kill it. so i tried and it appears it's worked pretty good.

what did you use to contain the boiling water?

You should be able to pick up small platic syringes at pharmacys cooking stores and some LFS carry them.

if i use boiling water can it hurt my zoos, whch are literaly right next to aptasia?

i wouldn't try that with ur zoos right there. use a needle with a special chemical to kill aiptasia. by the way... the boiling water didn't do a damn thing... that lil pest popped up a few days later. i'm going to look into a specific chemical to kill it.
