Please help me ID this...

I was looking in my tank the other day and saw what looked almost like a tiny elephant trunk coming out from under the rock. I would almost think it is a nassarius snail (I had two but one disappeared) but this is much bigger than the snail was and is BLACK rather than white/gray. It would retract under the rock and then come back out and seemed to be "vacuuming" the sand.
The picture I took got blurry for some reason but I couldn't get it any better than this...

any thoughts?

are they good or bad?
I was at the pet store and they had a fighting conch. The thing in my tank looks exactly like the fighting conch, but i never added a conch and I have never see any sign of one in the tank.

I agree....peanut worm. Excellent critter. We re-aquascaped and now I can't find my favouite little guy. I will keep looking for "sand piles" under holes.
