Yes, Ick will kill fish. Especially tangs. They are easily stressed and are extremely prone to developing it. There are several different ways to treat ick, but I personally recommend getting a few cleaner shrimp. My Scopas tang was wrapped up in ick and I really thought I was going to loss him. He spent the whole week with my Fire shrimp and by the following week he was good as new. Cleaners are the "doctors" of the tank and will physicaly clean fish of ectoparasites.

i would suggest looking at the top of this forum:: there is a thread by Beth regarding treatment of ICK.
there are a lot of different opinions for treatment as to what works and doesnt.
i for one am glad i found this info from Beth on the treatment. our PB Tang came down with ick as well.
its gone from the other fish because of the cycle of the parasite.. its STILL in your tank and will come back worse. PLEASE PLEASE read the treatment of ick at the top of the page.
hope this helps again sorry for your loss

he's right. I had the same problema and lost alot of fish. make sure when you buy fish to qt. them. the cost of a cleaner shrimp is well worth it. they are the dr's and make your fish clean and also good scavengers. they will grow fast too so if you have to get a small one. then so be it. I would wait a little bit to get more fish till your sure ick is gone. there is also a produst called kick-ich. it is reef safe. corals and fish will not be harmed from it. It is kinda costly though but ,,......so are fish. best of luck and things will get better...
