My display fish-only tank:
56 gallons
60lbs live rock
live sand (not a deep bed)
-been up and running after 6 week cycle since march 1(pretty new)
Water:
ammo-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-0
ph-8.3
sg-1.025
temp-78-79
Livestock:
10 blue-leg hermits
2 emerald crabs
1 firefish
1 royal gramma
QT:
1 scooter blenny
Okay, I'll try to get a pic, but I can't find batteries for my camera. However, I'm worried about my gramma, my lawnmower blenny passed yesterday. He was big and old (got him from a friend) but he was in great shape and I got the body out within a few hours of his death, even before the crabs found it. Now today my gramma has a 1/4 inch white-ish spot on his tail fin. The spot is so faint that you can only see it from 2 angles. He's eating well, swimming well (he thinks he owns the tank), and nothing seems wrong. It's not ich, nor anything I could identify from disease pages I've read. I don't want to get the scooter blenny out of qt early, but I don't have another tank ready to put the gramma in right now. I could have one ready tomorrow, granted not cycled properly, but I don't want to risk my dt. I'm hoping it's just stress and he'll recover on his own, I hate using chemicals on fish. Oh, and nothing's been added recently, and I was going to do a 5 gallon water change this weekend since the tank's still new. :help:
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please, and thank you for your help.

I would just leave it go and allow the fish to get rid of it on its own. Use some vitamin C in the fish's food and you will see him recover from whatever it is faster. Kent makes a very good vitamin C additive.

Oh, good, I hadn't heard of that. I've always had freshwater fish before and never had a sick one in my life. Yet I've never been so attached to fish before, for some reason the saltwater fish have so much more personality. I even cried when the lawnmower blenny died, I've watched him grow up in my friend's tank until a couple months ago when he moved to mine.
Thanks for the prompt response, I can now sleep easier.

I am sorry to hear that you lost the lawn mower blenny. I know how it is to lose a fish that you love very much. I had my lawn mower blenny for about 4 years when I lost it. It was a very sad time for me, also.

It may be nothing, but keep a close eye on it. I see that you have a scooter in QT. They are similar to a mandarine. Is he eating frozen foods for you? What are you feeding the blennie? Another question, how did you acclimate these fish?

I always temp and drip acclimate my fish, up to 4 hours. And the gramma's been in since it cycled (after it cycled, I mean), and that was the beginning of March.
And the scooter blenny is a treasure, I got him from a local lady who couldn't keep him. He likes nothing more than frozen spirulina enhanced brine shrimp. He's also gone for pellets, flakes, mysis, and live brine shrimp. She had spot fed him those foods for more than a year. He's been on that diet for another year, and I'm continuing that in my tank for him. He does snatch a pod now and then, but he's not too enthusiastic about it.

Yes, that is wonderful!!! I hope he works out well for you. Keep an eye on that spot and be sure to dose their foods with vitamines.

:cheer:
I'm so happy!
However, now my firefish has whatever it is, but less than last night. I got the vitamin c and have been adding it to their food. Thanks for the help, I couldn't have done it without you guys!
