please help new firefish

i got a red firefish 3 days ago and have it in a quarentine tank. noticed one white dot on its side. (looks like ick) but its just one dot for the 3 days now. could it be? any advise would be greatly apeciated.

It could be, or it could be a single parasite.
Why don't you go ahead and do hyposalinity. We are recommending doing hypo as a rule now, on all newly acquired bony fish, even if they are not symptomatic of ich.

LOTS of info here on this site. Please do a search for hyposalinity to get info. If you have any questions after some reserach here, then post back.
However, unless you have strictly a FO [meaning no LR, LS or inverts] then you will have to use a separate hospital tank. Hypo, and all meds for that matter, should not be used in tanks with LR/inverts.
