Please help quick

I just purchased a long tenacle anemone and was wondering if it was normal for it to sort of wilt after first being introduced to the tank? It also opened its mouth and I was under the assumtion that this wasn't good. Can you please tell me how to get them to anchor to the sand as well. Your input would be greatly appreciated. This is my first anemone.

yes that can be normal , what lighting do you have and what are your water perameters including specific gravity

Salinity-1.022, Ph-7.9, Ammonia-0, Nitrates-20, Nitrites-0
I have a lunar aqualight dual compact flourescent light with lunar blue-moon-glow led lights. What do you recomend I do over night to ensure the health of the LTA.

I'm not really familiar with keeping anenomes, but that SG looks to be quite low. Most inverts (and I think that anemomes are considered inverts?) need an SG of between 1.024 and 1.026. You're not terribly low, but that's one thing that stood out for me. You could try SLOWLY bumping that up a bit. Also, nitrates at 20 might be the culprit as well, IDK. What kind of lighting are you running? Wish I had more for you. I'm sure someone will chime in.

if anything, just have patience and let it be. its going to react to your tank so dont freak out so much. give it a week or so to adjust. in the meantime youll see it deflate and inflate over and over to regulate the water chemistry within itself. also, make sure its in the sand where it can bury its foot and make sure your intakes and powerheads are covered. it might start floating around with the current because of the powerheads
also i would raise your sg slowly to 1.025-1.026. what size of tank is this? i dont think those flourescent lighting is good enough for these guys. what size of a tank is this? i think you should rethink the LTA and go with something thats less light demanding

It is a 29 gallon tank. I was told that the lighting that I have is sufficient for a reef tank with anemonies. I guess it is normal for the anemonie to look different from what it did at the LFS. I just don't want to risk losing a 60 dollar addition to the tank. Everything else is doing awesome. Thank you for the input. What do I need to look for in a dying anemonie. I don't want to lose everthing in my tank.

well, make sure the foot isnt torn and is intact. keep an eye on the mouth, i know when i rescued mine it was questionable-- mouth wasnt closed or tight just loose, wasnt attached to anything.
a bad sign is after a week or two weeks its still not attached to something through the sand (not bad, just isnt happy), losing its color and going white (bleaching) caused from insufficient lighting. also youll usually notice initially brown stuff come out which may be its zooxanthellae or just expelling waste, and also if its insides start coming out and stays out or if it looks like its just turning into a blob. i would let it settle down for a week before yout try feeding it

It has already attatched itself to the sand. I guess I am just freaking out over nothing. Like I said before, I just don't want to mess up what Iv'e alread got. Keep the input coming. Thanks.

I guess all I am looking for is the signs that I might lose the anemonie. I have quite a bit tied up in this aquarium and don't want the anemonie to kill everything. What are some signs to look for that I might need to take it out so it doesn't poison my tank.

As mentioned, your specific gravity is, IMO, much too low for a tank with invertebrates. I would slowly start to raise that. Your nitrates are also getting quite high. This is a very small tank for anemones - which need very good water quality. It is also a significant risk, IMO, to keep an anemone in this size tank and try to keep other corals.

how much was your LTA? how big is it? got min for 25buckkers
they tend to close up at first when they are introduced to a new tank, since no 2 tanks are the same.
yea the salinity is little low. 20 for nitrates isnt bad but dont let it go ver 20. LTAs like it a little dirty, they really bloom up with 10-20 trates.

i agree also i dont feel your lighting is enough

I have four watts per gallon and was told that is plenty by my lfs. I know that lfs are sometimes iffy but this one is on point. I will go with what they say. He pulled out a book to show me that what I have in my tank is safe with the lighting. Thank you for all the input.

for what it's worth I too had a lta and it shrank to about dime size after I added it. It slowly "regrew" to be about the size of a saucer now in about 2 months time.
