please help!!!

i have a remora pro skimmer w/drain cup to drain foam into a 5gal bucket. it was working fine for abt 3 weeks. now, for some reason it is draining water into the bucket. i came home from work to find my 120 gal. tank drained down abt 4" from top. water all over the floor. i had to add about 10 gal. of saltwater mixed for only two days and abt 4 gals fresh water 2 days old. i hate to see what my new butterfly thinks of my water qual. now. i wont plug skimmer back in til i find out why its doing this.

My skimmer does that if I add something to my tank that increses surface tension such as Red Slime Remover or even products such as Stress Coat.
Did you add anything to your water lately?

the only thing would be a half capful of zooplex by kent

I don't thinnk that would do it, but not entirely sure. Protein skimmers are notorious for skimming pure water when surface tension is increased. Did you recently do a water change?

yes, i did about a 9-10 gal. waterchg friday

That could do it! Turn off the skimmer for a day (or overnight) and then turn it on and watch it for a minute to see if it skims clear water.

Sort of off topic but how do you like Zooplex? We can't get it here on the east coast yet.

They have tons of zooplex at LFS here in Pennsylvania, you can't get it on east coast?

the chromis love it. my lfs has a plenty.
