Hello. My first post. Wish I found this site before I started my tank. This little guy came along with some rock. Is he bad? I can easily take another pick if needed. Thankx.
I also found a little white hermit crab. Are white hermits ok?

yes another pic would be nice , that white crab isnt a hermit. by the looks of its claws it doesnt look reef safe , is this a reef tank?

I didn't take a picture of the hermit crab. Thank you for the quick reply. This is not going to be a reef tank. This snail came with the crab as well.

"Reef Safe" can mean two things.
1. A fish or invert that will harm or eat corals
2. A fish or invert that will eat other fish or inverts
Crabs like this fall into the second category. I am sure even if you don't have corals, you will still want other inverts to help keep the tank clean. Crabs are opportunists, and most hitchiking crabs are bad news.

in that second picture (left hand second post) is that lava rock(the red rock)? if it is you may want to remove it, lava rock can leach all kinds of heavy metals into your tank poisoning your fish and inverts.

Porcelain crabs have filter feeding appendages, this is not a porcelain.

Not for sure, but my emerald has hairy legs and is a lot creepier looking...I know that's a technical term

I give one vote for porcelain crab...though everyone I seen are filters
