Hydnophora? Very aggressive
Nope...but I do have one of them too....this is my Hydnophora:

The coral in question is very fragile....and has very small polyps at night....very hard to see, but it is going like crazy.

is it stag horn? i don't know the proper name for it though. i just got some too, but a very small piece
I don't think so....all the pictures i've ever seen of Staghorn the branches are much thicker.
The piece in question has very thin and almost flat branches.

You have to remember that if that coral was in Low flow, it will have spindly branches... To tell if it's truly an elkhorn, you'd have to study the polyp placement and structure as best as possible. I think it is an elkhorn...
We have some in our local aquarium, with most likely less flow than the ocean, but more flow than where yours came from and here's it's pic...

Hmmmmm....that picture does sort of look like the piece I have, but just bigger thicker branches.
It's hard to tell the polyp placement as the polyps are quite small....I can barely see them, but my gf says she can.

It looks like a branching montipora, but I'd need a closer photo to tell for sure.
Hmmmmm....I wish I could get a closer picture. I don't have a camera with a macro lens. But i'm still leaning towards a thinner version of the Elkhorn.

"Elkhorn" is a vernacular name used for species of both Acropora and Montipora. Do a search for Montipora hirsuta (also sometimes spelled hirisuta), one of the 'Elkhorn' montiporas. It looks very similar to what you have.
