I just got some more LR and it had something in it..... There are many of them and they look almost like Rollie Pollies but they do not roll up..... They seem to hide in the rocks except for when I feed, they come out and get anything that makes it past the fish
A friend got some of the same rock(and critters) he said he thought they were called Cocholids??? sp???
Any ideas....and are they good or bad????

Sounds like some kind of pods, but I don't know enough to do more than guess isopods. Most likely good, although there are a few species of isopod that prey on fish. As long as you don't ever see any of these guys hanging on your fish, or obvious signs of being attacked like frayed fins, they're a good thing.

sounds like a type of shrimp maybe? I have some very small shrimp, some which require magnification to really see, and they're all over the LR.
It's a great sign.
If theyre not that and theyre white pods that are very hard and stuck to everything, incl glass, theyre a good pod. Cant remember the name, but they inhabit areas of good water flow.

Thanks.... I do not think they are shrimp....They look nothing like any shrimp I have ever seen.... They are not really white either and they do not attach to the glass.... They are pretty much in hiding in the LR all day except feeding time they dart out to get any food that sinks to the bottom.
I will just assume they are some species oof Isopods.. Thanks
