ok I got home from work today and saw this thing shoot back into my rocks, took a while to actually get a shot of it... but it turned out to be a good one. Is this bad for my tank?
My levels are
Salinity: 1.026
Ph: 8.2
Nitrates: 0
Nitrites: .1
Ammonia: 0
Calcium: 300
My tank is in it's 6th week. cycle completed. and I did my 20% water change.

nope harmless, that is a Bristtle worm, they are a very good additiong to a cleaning crew, and will quickly dispose of any uneaten foods or carcases. it looks like a fire worm , but only for the fact that its organ line looks blue, but is actualy brownish.

i'm pretty sure they can sting you if you touch them, watch out if that is a bristle worm:nervous:

yea they sting but they are like bees, some people react realy bad to them, many people dont get effected.

I would say they are closer to a porcupine. The spines will get stuck in your skin super easy and it feels like fiberglass. IT HURTS ALOT
Try not to touch them.

Whatever you do, don't look into your tank at night with a red-lensed flashlight if yo have a weak stomach. I have seen things from the realm of nightmares.

I would get the salinity to 1.024, and the nitrites should always be zero. You can get rid of them by doing weekly 20% water changes.

i think the salinity is fine. 1.026 is about perfect IMO

ok and calcium???? I just ordered a alkalinity kit so I will test that when it comes in... but what should the calcium be?

the calcium is kinda low for normal alk lvls, we need the alk lvl to determin if the calcium is actualy in line with alk or outa whack. calcium should be 400 or so
