ok, I've had my aquarium set up for a few months now and had only had "dead" base rock in it. I went to the lfs last week and bought an engineer goby which I absolutely love and a 1 lb. piece of "live rock". I was looking in the aquarium yesterday and noticed a lot of 1/4" long black lines on my white rocks which looked like scratches. Upon pressing my nose up to the glass I noticed there were HUNDREDS of these things all over my aquarium and they were moving! What are they?
They do not seem to have any "arms" or "legs", just kind of a deep red in the middle and clear/blue at either end. They are so small I can't make out anything like a mouth - just little tiny straight worms.

I really don't think it's bristle worms, there are no legs or fuzziness. They are very smooth looking like an earthworm would be, but they are extremely small & skinny.

So, I'm not sure exactly what you have, but I am fairly sure that they are not bristleworms. IMHO.

No, it's definitely not a bristleworm. Wow, I thought for sure someone on this website would be able to tell me what it was. I thought ya'll knew evereything!:D
So what would ya'll do about them? Are they safe? I'm getting creeped out by them, they're crawling up the glass now! They don't swim at all, just crawl and sometimes crawl like an inchworm in that upside down U formation.

I would GUESS some worm had babies......you would need a MUCH closer shot to get an ID. From that shot....you'll get nothing but guesses........sorry, just my opinion. The good news is that almost all worms are good. Perhaps a guess will be right though.....good luck.
