Please Read and Learn: Always Quarantine New Fish

I just bought a hippo tang for my FO/LR/LS tank and once again have ick. I bought a small one from a very reputible LPS that always quaratines their fish for two weeks. I had them hold the fish for me and I picked it up Saturday.
Well since I'm still nto smart enough to have a quaratine tank I assumed that it would be OK (knowing no animals in my tank nor from this particular LPS has ever had ick) and this little guy had three spots.
I immediately gave all my fish medicated food (fortunately all my fish love the stuff) and will have to wait and see. I went out and purchased a 10 gal for quaratines but the new tank needs to be established before I put this fish in. I have a medication that works real well but is NOT invert safe and I woudl like to keep my pin cushin urchin.
I will from now on soak my fish food in garlic once a week for the life of my aquariums and quaratine every fish i get from anyone.
Please learn from my mistakes.

Yeah, almost the same thing happened here. I got my Pygmy from a very very very good LFS and it got ick. I didn't quarintine it cause since I'm only gonna get 2 more fish I thought that I shouldn't be spending the money... well the angel died, and my other fish are still fighting it off. I agree with bud on tap :p

Well that was weird. I just submitted my post, then it didn't show up. Oh well, here it it again:
If you're going to QT, I suggest doing it under hyposaline conditions (like say 1.010). This will kill parasites that might otherwise not show up until after QT to main tank transfer.

Good Explaination!
For some reason which lead me to believe that most aquarist may have the "fear to quarantine" their new fish(es) before introduce into show tank.
Narrow of reason of being fear that have not been public discussed as of:
1) Fear of losing fish in quarantine because of lack of proper produrce education how to quarantine safe.
2) Unpatiently may be the part of factor by placing the fish in show tank instead.
3) Such as "hard to keep" fishes such as Potter Angelfish, Mandarian, Butterfly fishes, and some other spiecements. This DO POSE AN ISSUE OF MYSELF How to quarantine those type of fishes as mentioned above. (They require a well-established tank)
4) Fear to screw up in quarantine procession. (fishes are expensive now)
Maybe you have read the " How to: Quarantine" Authored by Mr Tang. This is good article. But still as mentioned above I am working on research for How to quarantine the "hard to keep spiecements"
Thanks
