I have an RO unit, the filters are about 6 mo. old. Yesterday my tank was looking better (problem with high nitrates). I have a 30 gal garbage can that I fill with RO water when it gets low. I filled the container last night. This morning I added a gallon or two of RO water to my tank as I always do and now all the corals look bad. My pulsing xenias aren't closed but they look thin and are not pulsing. Even my anemones are somewhat closed. The fish seem fine. I tested my RO for nitrates and phosphates and both read zero. I do not have a test for chlorine, could that be it? My husband, just yesterday, installed a ball valve to regulate the water flow to reduce the noise. Is it possible it was leaching metals into my tank. I'm at a loss as to what is wrong. What should I check next? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

is it a brass ball valve? if so you are adding copper to your tank. no metal fixtures should go after the RODI unit.
