Plenum System

I am in the process of putting together a 30 gal tank. I think it was burnspy that told me to go with 4" of LS with a plenum, but how exactly do i construct a plenum system?
I mean i have the pvc pipe, have the fiberglass screen, and the eggcrate, but do i need to vent the plenum or provide some waterflow beneath the sandbed or just bury the air pocket???

Bob Goemans book Live Sand Secrets covers the set up of a plenum system from start to finish and it only costs about $8. HTH

Its as easy as you think, there is no flow (per say) under the plenum or it would be an undergravel filter. The trapped air will be used by the bacteria.
Ensure you glue(silicone) enough pipe pieces to the tank bottom to hold up the rocks and sand, judgement call.
Place the eggcrate on top.
Place the screen on top, have enough excess screen to fold it at least 1/2" upwards on all sides to prevent gravel from going under the eggcrate.
Pour the gravel on top, 4" is the goal not more or less.
