No I wanted to build a sump and I have a post on New Hobbiest 1 on Reef tanks and one here and you are the first to even respond at all
when I know I will let you know the outcome and how hard it is
My LFS guy told me that I can not use plexiglass form Home Depot or Lows
is this true
Well Yes and No....
You can use the "plexiglass" if it's thick enough to be effective and not "bow" under water pressure...
The thin stuff they sell for windows won't work for the tank "walls" but is fine for baffles...
Although I prefer using glass for a glass sump and acrylic if the trank is acrylic...
As said before depends on the thickness your using. You might have to eurobrace the top of the sump if to thin and be sure to use the correct bonding solvent as well....
make sure that you get the ride bonding material because the stuff they sell at home depot or lowes will not hold up to what it says on the package and the only way u can do it is if u get acrilic adheasive. and u will need to go to a glass shop or somewhere like that.

Did I understand that right!!
You baught Home Depot Plexi and put it together with marine Goop :joy:
Did you buy the goop at Home Depot too?
yes i bought the plexi glass at home depot and the marine goop also, you can find the marine goop in the silicone section, very easy to do, i did mine about a yr ago and is still holding together.
I just made my refugium out of 1/4 in plexyglass. I used Weld On #3. It holds it together tight. Sealed it with Silicon. It Looks awsome. No leaks either. Granted there is silicone everywere. But is a refugiun and no noe sees it.
