would using plastic or plexiglass that doesnt let UV light thru be a bad thing for a reef aquarium?? I'm building a retro-light hood for my eclipse 3 hood. I'm putting plastic or plexiglass between the bulb and the water...
thanx for any input

Oh DUh... a PC light doesnt even give off UV does it?? That makes sense now that I take a second and actually think about it. I'm just curious about whether or not filtering UV is bad or good.
I'm adding another 65W PC (CSL Smartlamp), and it will be about an inch and a half from the water. Theres not much room to work with in a Eclipse 3 hood. I just bought 1/8" clear acrylic to make a splash shield. I'd hate for the bulb to get splashed on and explode into the tank. Now I just wonder how the heat will affect the plastic. Hopefully it will only bow slightly, as opposed to melt into the tank...
Hey, does anyone know of a 96W Power Compact bulb in 24" length?
Thanks for the input.
