I need to cut the stem of my plugs I have a bit so they sit in the sand bed better and not tip over. What is the best way to do this??

I use clean pliers (make sure to wash and dry them really well afterwards or they will rust.)
They usually just snap off, I have the creamic rock-looking ones.
