Plumbing part selection

Hey all
I am trying to get everything ready for my tank upgrade and while looking through plumbing parts, I got totally lost. How do I decide what type of parts I need?? I.e.- True union, single union, slip etc.
The tank is a 75gal AGA with megaflo overflow to be plumbed to a 20gal long sump/fuge and a mag 9.5 return.
The sump is configured: Skimmer->Return->Fuge.
I would like to split the water going into the sump between the skimmer and fuge sections of the sump.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Unless you are EXTREMELY lucky....
Figure on at least 4-5 trips to the hardware store to get all the correct peices...

You can generally narrow that down a "little" if you grab like 6 of everything the first trip thru....
But you'll still be short a piece or two....
Good luck with that though....
