Plumbing through a rubbermaid tub???

I'm using a 150 gallon rubbermaid as my sump on the new setup but I am having a hard time finding the fittings to work with the rubbermaid. The rubbermaid has a built in, threaded drain that I'd like to use so I don't have to drill a hole. However the drain is slightly smaller than 1 1/4"... I'm guessing it's about 1 1/8" or even 1 3/16" but I'm not sure that they make male, threaded pvc parts in these sizes. The 1 1/4" fits but is a bit bigger and I don't want to damage the drain and get leaks.
Anyone know the exact size and where I can get the pvc piece to fit it? Or do I have to drill a new hole and install a new bulkhead? Anyone know? Thanks.

I have the same type of setup.
I just added two bulkheads that drain into my sump.
I did two because a friend of mine originally had one and a snail climbed in it and clogged the overflow causing the fuge to overflow, so the second one is kinda a backup incase something decides to crawl in one.
Good Luck

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but how did your fuge overflow if the snail clogged the overflow and no more water could get into the fuge? Would it burn out your pump or overflow the main tank?

I would drill for a new bulkhead. The ones that come stock in these tanks are very well known for leaking.

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do. You don't happen to know how big of a hole I need for a 1" bulkhead, do you?

My error. I thought he was running a fuge not a sump.
Anyways a 1" bulkhead usually has a 3/4" hole.
Good Luck

I think you may have that backwards. I was no math major but shouldn't the hole be LARGER than the bulkhead size?

Actually the opening on the bulkhead is usually larger than the threaded part of it.
The threaded side of the BH is smaller and the larger part 1 inch is usually screwed into the outside.
Just measure the diameter of the bulkhead threaded part and theres the size of your hole.

When I used a 1" bulkhead, it said to drill a 1 3/4" hole for it. Just my 2 cents.
