I feel like a newb for asking this but.........
Would I be better off reversing my sump?
Right now I have it draining straight down (about 3 feet) and flowing from left to right to the return pump. My return line is about 6' long and raises 4 feet with one 90 at the top.
Would I be better served if I turned it around and had the sump draining down to the other end of the stand and had the return pumping straight up?
Is there any problem with having the drain line running diagonally down?

In order to get the most flow through the tank the return line should be the largest possible diameter with a minimum of turns.
the drain line can create some gugrling if complex but should be able to keep up. and of course it's diameter can be increased if necessary.

I'd say your fine just how it is. You don't really want that much turnover anyways. Even if you're ending up with 700gph that's way more than enough for your size tank. I wouldn't change anything if it were me.
